A Mega Millions player in California just missed the $100 million jackpot but won $2.2 million, lottery officials said. The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Mega Ball in the drawing Friday, May 9, the California Lottery said.

There have been three Mega Millions winners this year, with the most recent being the April 18 win in Ohio of a $112 million jackpot. Before then, a lucky lottery ticket holder in Illinois took home a $344 million jackpot on March 25, while another lucky person hit the Mega Millions jackpot on Jan. 17 for $113 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $100 million, with a cash option of $45.3 million. The winning numbers were: 9, 10, 12, 48 and 60. The Mega Ball drawn was 16. No one across the country hit Tuesday’s $90 million jackpot. There were also no second-prize tickets of at least $2 million sold.
