The escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, two neighbors who have been rivals for decades, erupted in the early hours of Wednesday morning when New Delhi launched missiles across the border.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to retaliate after India fired missiles into several locations controlled by Pakistan, killing more than two dozen people.

India fired missiles into Pakistani-controlled territory in several locations early Wednesday, killing at least 26 people including a child, in what Pakistan's leader called an act of war. India said it struck infrastructure used by militants linked to last month’s massacre of tourists in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir.
