Aid agencies have criticised Israeli plans to take over distribution of humanitarian aidin Gaza and use private companies to get food to families after two months in which the military has prevented supplies from entering the enclave.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

Israel has blockaded all entrances to the Gaza Strip since March. While pummeling the strip with airstrikes, it has banned any food, water, shelter or medication from entering the Palestinian territory,
